    So Hype for HD Remix.

    Saturday, November 22, 2008, 12:17 PM [General]

I'll be the first to admit; I am a scrub. I've only been 'into' ST for a few months now, and before that my only real experience with Street Fighter was Hyper Fighting on the SNES that I got used at a Blockbuster. Mom wasn't the most liberal with me so I didnt exactly have the ability to go to an arcade whenever I wanted, and I was an only child so no big brother to take me anywhere. I never really had the access to see all the big combos and stuff people were doing, so it really amounted to me and the few friends I had trying to do all the special moves on eachother.

Now I'm 22, and the arcade scene is all but dead. The only real place I have to go to play on a ST machine is Chinatown Fair, but that's 60 miles away. Thanks to GGPO I have a place to play with other people, and I've gotten a lot better, but I'm still nowhere near 'high-level' play. Hopefully that will change with HD Remix now that I'll have a Training mode and such.

In terms of the actual game though, I got to play it at SFC and I have totally fallen in love with it. Never before have I experienced such a case of blue balls waiting for a game. Since I got my hands on it I've been dying for more. As I left, some of the crew outside asked me what I thought. I said that I thought both SF4 and HD Remix were awesome, but that I was mainly there to see HD Remix. Ray Jimenez was pretty excited to hear that, said 'YEEEAAAAH, that's my BOY!" and came over and shook my hand.

I just cant wait for it, only 4 more days!

    The London pub.

Saturday, November 22, 2008, 06:15 PM GMT [Jokes]

Three guys sitting in a pub in London,

'Y'know,' said the Scotsman, 'I still prefer the pubs back home. In Glasgow there's a little bar called McTavish's. Now the landlord there goes out of his way for the locals so much that when you buy four drinks he will buy the fifth drink for you.'

'Well,' said the Englishman, 'At my local, the Black Bull, the barman there will buy you your third drink after you buy the first two!'

'Ahhh, that's nothing,' said the Irishman. 'Back home in Dublin, there's Ryan's Bar. Now the moment you set foot in the place they'll buy you a drink, then another, all the drinks you like. Then when you've had enough drinks they'll take you upstairs and see that you get laid. All on the house.'

The Englishman and Scotsman immediately scorn the Irishman's claims, but he swears every word is true. 'Well,' said the Englishman, 'Did this actually happen to you?'

''Not me meself, personally, no,' said the Irishman, 'But it did happen to my sister.

Keep those fingers crossed for us!

Saturday, November 22, 2008, 01:09 PM EST [General]

After so much headache, heartache, wallet-ache (I can invent works, too!!) and loan-from-family-&-friends-ache (see, did it twice!) it looks like a wonderful job is on the horizon for our family!

    (SIGH of relief)

In addition to the fact that I've already interviewed with a "mart" company for the holiday season (TWICE!!) and they've checked my references, there is a good possibility that I will get some work to supplement our income of zero dollars in the past few months. (Other than gifts from friends, family and church members...)

PLUS, today, Voldemort went on a job interview for another trucking company because he's not worked since just before the election.  This one is a dedicated route, and pending his drug test and corporate approval (because the job's through an owner/operator with more than one truck) he'll get the job.

What it means: We'll be able to pay back the nearly $4000 we've had to borrow between our friends and family over the past year.  ($700/month rent, $100-$300 per month for heat and lights in our crappy rental house that has more drafts than a draft pick for a football league, $200/month for car insurance that we legally HAVE to have on our car... we've not been in trouble long, but it's obviously been expensive!).

We applied for food stamp help in the middle of October and have heard nothing.  They're "really backed up" and our caseworker has been on vacation for the last two weeks.  We're busy "starving to death" because she needed a vacation?!?  Unbelievable!  Thank God for our church family and actual family, or we would have actually starved to death.  Their guidance and willingness to help us obtain food bank info really saved us.  That and the groceries, ;)

Hopefully we'll still get approved for food stamps, because it will mean that we can catch up faster, instead of spending our money on food right away, we can fend off the utility wolves, you know?  We also would need to use some of that money for gas or bus tickets so we can GET to work, you know?  Not to mention uniforms and stuff like that.

Even if we don't get approval, hopefully we'll manage.  Our family will just have to wait for that money, though it makes for an awkward Christmas season...

IF anyone has resources this Christmas season, please consider donating to things like "Toys for Tots" or something like that.  I know our kids have only $100 spent between the two of them with a points reward gift card - from Volde's moving days when he would OTR and stay at a hotel.  When you look at toy prices and look at $50/kid including tax, we've ended up with 2 decent toys per child, and no stocking stuffers.  I may have to tell my eldest that there is no real Santa this year so she's not wondering why she got next to nothing for Christmas this year, or wonders what she did to upset Santa... (And she's been SOOOO good!!!)

Is it better to believe Santa stopped loving you, or know there is no such person, and your parents did their best?????  I mean... neither one's got the spirit of Christmas in the message.  Which one is the right thing to do?  Wait and see? Hope someone at church magically hears the spirit and shows up with a bag full of toys for them?  Or do I contact my local toys for tots program and see if we qualify?  Tons of unanswers.

Hopefully, something works. I just hope we don't have to ruin her Christmas by telling her on that day, should she ask.  Maybe we will get an armfull of presents from a well-wisher, or maybe the family will cover for us by getting stocking stuffers for THEIR homes, so we can  pick up the gifts and visit for a while... You never know.

Hmmm..looks like open play for me

    Saturday, November 22, 2008, 12:08 PM [General]

Well things are just headed south for me these days.

Was looking forward to a decent year, but the league I bowl on folded 2wks into the season.

Working nights makes it impossible to bowl other nights.Bowl on Sat. afternoon, but a very small league.Other problem is when the tournaments are held on weekends..our league.. well cancel that week.Oh because its a small league the rest of the lanes are open play most are young kids with flash cameras out for a good time.

Same goes for getting any practice in..house is full of young children that just run all over the place..like up and down the approach.Almost wiped out an 8 yr old because the kid ran in front of me as I started my delivery.Night time on the weekends well moonlight bowling..

Really thinking of packing it in myself as my ave. well just sucks..down to 164.No heart feel,or drive anymore. You know the end is near when you throw 130 games and just shrug your shoulders, and say oh well.Even when you do throw a good 200+ game there just isn't any emotion.

I'll see how things go the next few months...

Why do the television providers seem to be against the Outdoor Channel

Saturday, November 22, 2008, 11:07 AM MST [General]

YES, I am still harping on this subject.

Qwest will discontinue there Choice TV service in February 2009.

I am still looking for a provider that has the Outdoor Channel in there list of networks available.

Cox does not offer it. Period

Dish Network and Direct TV only offers it in their most expensive packages.  75% of which I will never watch.

I am thinking about hooking up  a computer  to my 56" flat screen and watching the Outdoor Channel programs directly off of this website.
But if I go that route, it may actually make more sense to cancel all TV providers and hang out an antenna, for local programming, and watching all my shows off of the internet.

I am damned if I do and damned it I don't.

    La Enfermedad llamada Egoismo

Saturday, November 22, 2008, 12:56 PM EST [General]

    "HouseOfTheRisingSun" is in New Orleans

Saturday, November 22, 2008, 05:55 PM GMT [General]

There is a house in New Orleans
    They call the Rising Sun
And it's been the ruin of many a poor boy
And God I know I'm one

    My mother was a tailor
    She sewed my new bluejeans
My father was a gamblin' man
    Down in New Orleans

Now the only thing a gambler needs
    Is a suitcase and trunk
And the only time he's satisfied
Is when he's on a drunk

    Oh mother tell your children
Not to do what I have done
Spend your lives in sin and misery
In the House of the Rising Sun

Well, I got one foot on the platform
The other foot on the train
I'm goin' back to New Orleans
To wear that ball and chain

Well, there is a house in New Orleans
    They call the Rising Sun
And it's been the ruin of many a poor boy
And God I know I'm one

    The D's

Saturday, November 22, 2008, 12:53 PM EST [General]

It's really sad, when I only get to the C's and D's and already want to give up on the game.  Gratitude is something that's been beating into me over the years, though, so ... I feel incredibly guilty if I don't acknowledge it.  Which, I suppose, is a good thing.

    :)

And now for the D's ...

Defibrillators - As scary as they look, they're apparantly the reason I'm alive to write this list.

Doctors - For as much as I hate them ... and Oh, do I hate them ... they seem to at least have an idea of what they're doing with me.

Dogs - While I'm not currently a big fan of the barking beast that I live with, I'm a huge sucker for those big ol'e puppy dog eyes.  And I'll admit - both she, and my Maxy have silently talked me down a number of ledges over the years.

Dunkin' Donuts - Now that they've started selling their coffee in grocery stores, I am hoplessly, helplessly addicted.
